Station Information
Category: Baseline Station
Status: Operational - 1976, Major upgrade - October, 1997

The Mauna Loa system was upgraded in April 2000. The new aerosol system was run in tandem with the old system for a year so measurements could be compared. The current system improvements include: size cuts (1 and 10 um), humidity control, a nephelometer capable of back scatter measurements and replacement of the aethalometer with a Particle Soot/Absorption Photometer (PSAP).

MLO Aerosol Properties Plots

These plots are designed to provide a quick look at the measured aerosol properties. They display raw unedited data, but known corrections for instrument errors have been applied.
