Synthesis and Assessment Products. The Strategic Plan for the U.S. Climate Change Science Program plan calls for the creation of a series of more than 20 synthesis and assessment reports.
US Climate Action Reports (CAR). "National
Communications" submitted to the Secretariat of the United Nations
Framework Convention on Climate Change, under Article 12 of the convention:
Analysis of Global Change Assessments: Lessons Learned. Report (issued 23 Feb 2007) from the National Research Council identifying "the essential elements of effective global change assessments, including strategic framing, engagement of stakeholders, credible treatment of uncertainties, and a transparent interface between policymakers and scientists." US National
Assessment: The Potential Consequences of Climate Variability and Change.
Access to a large collection of material, including regional & sectoral
reports, workshop proceedings, and the National Assessment's newsletter Acclimations. The National Assessment Overview and Foundation Reports were produced by the National
Assessment Synthesis Team, an advisory committee chartered under the
Federal Advisory Committee Act, and were not subjected to OSTP's Information
Quality Act Guidelines. The National Assessment was forwarded to the President
and Congress in November 2000 for their consideration.

Impact Assessment (ACIA). An international project of the Arctic
Council and the International Arctic Science Committee (IASC), to evaluate
and synthesize knowledge on climate variability, climate change, and increased
ultraviolet radiation and their consequences.
Assessment of Impacts and Adaptations to Climate Change in Multiple Regions and Sectors (AIACC). A "global initiative developed in collaboration with the UNEP/WMO Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and funded by the Global Environment Facility to advance scientific understanding of climate change vulnerabilities and adaptation options in developing countries."
Caribbean: Planning for Adaptation
to Global Climate Change (CPACC) This project is designed to support
the participating Caribbean countries in preparing to cope with the adverse
effects of global climate change, particularly sea level rise in coastal
and marine areas.

(CIRA)
Climate Change in Portugal: Scenarios,
Impacts, and Adaptation Measures. From SIAM (Scenarios, Impacts
and Adaptation Measures). "SIAM started work in the summer
of 1999, with funding from the Calouste
Gulbenkian Foundation (Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian,
FCG). The Portuguese Science and Technology
Foundation (Fundação da Ciência e da Tecnologia,
FCT), added its support since January of 2000. The mandate is to carry
out the first integrated assessment of the impacts of climate change in
the country. "
Climate Change Integrated Assessment
Modeling: The Model Visualization and Analysis Service. Developed
by the Socioeconomic Data and Applications Center (SEDAC).
Environmental
and Societal Impacts Group (ESIG) of the National Center for Atmospheric
Research. "ESIG integrates societal needs with knowledge
of the environment to better understand and communicate impacts of weather,
climate, and global change. ESIG fosters cross-disciplinary research by
bridging social and natural sciences, the humanities, and technology to
inform decision-making."
