Section 508 Training Day

When:  Friday September 26, 2008; 9AM to 4PM

Where:

U.S. Census Bureau Conference Center
4600 Silver Hill Road, Suitland, MD 20746
(Near the Suitland Metro Station on the Green Line)

Why:  This was an event organized by the U.S. Access Board as part of our commitment to provide training and technical assistance on Section 508.

Who was invited:  This was open to everyone:  federal employees, contractors, industry, advocacy organizations and consumers.

Cost:  The training was provided free of charge.  Attendees were responsible for paying for their lunch and travel.

What will the training cover?  The training devoted several hours in the morning to review many of the specific Section 508 Standards.  The afternoon addressed testing, e-learning, agency implementation, the 504-508 connection, and other issues.  There were several Q&A periods to encourage discussion.  The trainers represented multiple federal agencies and departments.  Audio visual presentations were used and are available in electronic form below.  Handouts were not provided.

Accommodations:  Sign language interpretation and CART services were provided.

Videoconferencing:  The event was privately broadcast to other locations throughout the country.
