Species in Need of Conservation

Comprehensive Wildlife Conservation Strategies (CWCS) / State Wildlife Action Plans (SWAP) developed by each state compiled lists of species considered to be of Greatest Conservation Need (GCN). Not surprisingly, many of the GCN species are concerns across multiple states. In selecting GCN species to highlight, SAIN considered the broader conservation needs of the Southeastern U.S. states of Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, and Mississippi. The following species are listed as in greatest conservation need by at least one of these Southeastern states.
