Nuclear Energy Learning Resources for Home and School

(Reviewed and) Recommended by Nuclear Energy Experts

Looking for information on nuclear energy related topics for a school assignment or a lesson plan?
Want to make sure that the information is accurate and up-to-date?
Look no further and let our Nuclear Energy Experts help you find educational resources that really matter!

The links below are intended for students at or below high school level. They will take you to resources, both U.S.-based and international (all in English, except as marked), that will help you to find information on how nuclear reactors work, what makes certain materials radioactive, the importance of nuclear energy in the 21st century, and many other nuclear energy topics. If, for example, you have a school assignment to write a paper on how nuclear power is generated, or what to do with nuclear waste, or comparing nuclear power with other ways to generate electricity, you should be able to find material to help you write your paper by checking out some of these websites. Some of the pages are written for specific age groups (e.g., 14-16 years), and these are clearly marked. A list of international resources in other languages is also available.

For any of you who are teachers, many of these websites have a section containing classroom materials and information for teachers – look for references to teachers’ resources in our descriptions of the websites.

Please understand that Argonne National Laboratory and the Nuclear Engineering Division do not claim that this is a comprehensive listing of nuclear energy websites, nor are Argonne or the Nuclear Engineering Division responsible for the contents of any of the websites listed, other than any which originate within Argonne.
