Postgraduate Physician Scientists

Physician scientists may be supported by training grants (T32s) and/or fellowships (F32s). Up to three years of research support is possible before, in the middle of, or after your specialty training. NRSA funds cannot be used for specialized clinical training.

Both T32 positions and F32s are subject to rules of the NRSA program.

You must contact the Principal Investigator of the currently supported NIDDK training grant program in which you are interested to see if a position is available. For an individual fellowship (F32) you must apply for funding following the available instructions and application deadlines.

• K-awards (K-table)- provide salary, research support, and protected time for individuals who have had postdoctoral training but are interested in applying for an NIH R01, or similar, grant in the next 3-5 years.
