Activities & People

Oregon Sea Grant is, at heart, its people: A team of academic, research and outreach faculty and staff from a variety of backgrounds and disciplines conducting science and delivering the results to a variety of interconnected publics:

Sea Grant's program emphasis is flexible, and changes over time to meet changing local, state and national needs. Mandates and funding opportunities from Congress, NOAA and the National Sea Grant Program help direct where we put our limited resources, but so do the needs and concerns of local stakeholders, as expressed in meetings, workshops, and by the citizen members of our Advisory Council.

Visit our Program Themes section to learn more about the things we study and teach, from the potential effects of earthquakes and tsunamis on coastal communities to new ways to process seafood to get the most value and quality out of the catch. Browse through our catalogue of publications and videos for titles that may pique your interest, whether you're looking for a poster showing the all the shark species of the Pacific, a manual on how to smoke fish safely at home, a report on the state of our nation's coasts or a fact sheet about the flotsam, jetsam and wrack you might find on a visit to the beach.

If you don't find what you're looking for, try our search page - or just ask!
