Collaborator and Author: Dr. Marion Simon

Dr. Simon has served as the State Specialist for Small Farm and Part-time Farmers at Kentucky State University for 20 years and their Sustainable Agriculture Coordinator for eight years. She serves on the Advisory Board of the Southern Region Risk Management Education Center and the Association of 1890 Extension Administrators Small Farm Team. An Agricultural Economist in the areas of livestock marketing, cooperatives, statistics, system's analysis, agri-business, farm management, and production, she is well versed in many areas of production, marketing, and sustainable agriculture. Dr. Simon grew up on a small, diversified tobacco and livestock farm in Kentucky and currently owns and operates a small horse farm. She will lend expertise and review/develop materials in the areas of farm management, farm records, risk management, marketing, statistical analysis, safe food handling issues, local food and value-added production, and the needs of minority and low literacy audiences.
