The Office of Environmental
Services (OES) is a new office in ADOT that oversees all
environmental programs within the agency. The OES will
ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental laws
during the development, construction,
and operation of ADOT facilities.
Environmental laws include the National Environmental
Policy Act, Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, Resource Conservation
and Recovery Act, and Superfund, among others. The OES
will work closely with governmental agencies having environmental
mandates including the Environmental Protection Agency,
Arizona Department of Environmental Quality, and the U.S.
Army Corps of Engineers
The OES is divided into 5 groups, which include:
• Environmental
Planning Group
The Environmental Planning Group Web site is
designed for practitioners in preparing environmental
evaluation and planning documents with the most current
guidelines and information.
• Natural
Resources Management Group
The Natural Resources Management Section Web
site provides support for the management of land, wildlife,
and vegetation along roadway corridors throughout the
state.
• Compliance Group
The Compliance Group Web site will provide
information to help ensure that environmental regulatory
requirements are met for all ADOT activities. This includes
mitigation measures resulting from the environmental
investigations, terms and conditions of Section 404
permitting, and many more regulatory acts.
• Water Quality
Group
The Water Quality Group Web site will provide
information on regulatory requirements on surface and
groundwater for all ADOT activities. This
includes requirements for the storm water program and
aquifer protection program.
• Plans and Permits
Group
The Plans and Permits Group Web site will help
provide information to manage the framework for the
environmental requirements on all ADOT activities, and
the data management system for the various plans and
permitting within the Department.
