MISSION
Artwork
As established by the Global Aquaculture Alliance Officers and Board of Directors, the bylaws of this nonprofit organization direct it to advocate aquaculture as an answer to global food needs and to educate producers, consumers and the media regarding this important role.
 
MISSION
The mission of GAA is to further environmentally responsible aquaculture to meet world food needs.
 
VISION
GAA will serve to:

  • Develop standards and encourage the use of aquaculture system designs, installations and operations sensitive to and compatible with environmental and community needs;
  • Improve production and marketing efficiencies to provide aquaculture products to larger segments of the world's population;
  • Promote effective and coordinated government regulatory and international trade policies;
  • Articulate the importance of aquaculture as a source of food and employment and its compatibility with community needs and environmental protection.

FUNCTIONS
GAA shall:

  • Provide information about the aquaculture industry to consumers, government agencies and the media.
  • Advocate for the industry in international forums;
  • Assist its members in advocacy to national governments;
  • Organize and support technological research;
  • Provide technical and other information to its members.
  • Develop standards of good practice or codes of conduct for the aquaculture industry;
  • License organization to certify according to GAA standards or codes;
  • Develop and authorize use of marks or logos designating adherence to codes or standards.
