Natural Resources Management Group
Mission: To support the operation and maintenance of Arizona’s highway system by implementing a state-of –the-art natural resources planning, compliance and management program while upholding the diverse environmental responsibilities of the Arizona Department of Transportation.
Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) highway corridors pass through distinct biotic communities (life zones) with elevations ranging from zero to 10,000 feet. Our vision is to have the state rights-of-way in Arizona representative of the ecosystems through which they pass, without degradation by invasive and noxious species.
The ADOT Natural Resources Management Group is responsible for managing land, wildlife, and vegetation along roadway corridors throughout the state primarily for reasons of public safety, infrastructure maintenance, and ecological management.
The Natural Resources Management Group is a part of the Office of Environmental Services in the Intermodal Transporation Division of ADOT. The Group is responsible for over 6200 regional route miles (approximately 33,000 acres) and employing a staff of over 35 individuals. The Group headquarters office is located in Phoenix (Contact Us), and provides support in personnel, procurement, contract management, equipment, safety, and training for the four regional offices located in Phoenix, Tucson, Prescott, and Flagstaff.
