William R. Campbell, Jr.

Chief Nuclear Officer and Executive Vice President, TVA Nuclear

image of bill campbellBill Campbell joined TVA as Chief Nuclear Officer and Executive Vice President in May 2007. As Chief Nuclear Officer, he is responsible for planning and directing all TVA organizational activities related to nuclear power production; nuclear power plant operations, maintenance, and modifications; and all nuclear support services and engineering activities.

Before joining TVA, Campbell served as the Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for Entergy Nuclear’s South Region. In that position, he was responsible for the leadership and direction of the company’s southern operating region and the corporate support functions for the company’s four nuclear plant sites in Mississippi, Texas, Louisiana, and Arkansas.

Prior to holding that position, Campbell served as Entergy Operations’ Vice President of Engineering from 2000 to 2003.

Campbell has more than 33 years of experience in the commercial nuclear power industry, having worked for Duke Energy, Progress Energy, and Ameren. He has held numerous key management and executive leadership positions in the industry that have included responsibility for directing and managing nuclear site operations, maintenance, construction, and engineering and technical support functions for single and multi-unit sites. He is a certified professional engineer and has held a senior reactor operator’s license.

Campbell graduated from North Carolina State University with a B.S. degree in nuclear engineering. He also has a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Clemson University. He and his wife, Ann, have two children.
