Pennsylvania Game Commission's
Seedlings For Schools

The Pennsylvania Game Commission invites PA
schools to participate in the 2009

Seedlings For Schools Project.
Trees are important to wildlife, people and the environment. Through Seedlings for Schools, students plant seedlings at home, on school grounds or in their community and discover the vital role of trees in the environment.

TWO WAYS TO PARTICIPATE
1. Seedlings for your class:  Primarily for third grade students, the Pennsylvania Game Commission provides a classroom or 1 grade level with enough seedlings for each student to take a seedling home to plant. (The Commission asks that seedlings be ordered for only 1 grade level per school, third grade is suggested but not required.) This year seedling choices are Silky dogwood or White Spruce. A teacher’s guide comes with the seedlings.
2. Seedlings to develop habitats: Primarily for middle and high school students, the Commission provides a variety of se\pgc\digestPDFs\2008\seedling1orderform.pdfedlings to students interested in planting seedlings on school or community grounds to improve habitat, plant along a stream, develop a tree nursery, or create an environmental area.
How to participate:  There is no charge to participate in these programs.

Choose a program and order seedlings.

Seedlings for Your Class:           Order between January 5- April 1, 2009
Seedlings to Develop Habitats:  Order between Feb. 23- April 1, 2009

A teacher’s guide with background information/activities is sent with the trees. To obtain a guide prior to seedling delivery, please email talberici@state.pa.us

There is no charge to schools participating in this project. The seedlings are provided by the Pennsylvania Game Commission’s Howard Nursery. The cost of shipping is covered thanks to the generosity of:
