How big is the Memorial?

The FDR Memorial covers approximately 7.5 acres.

What is with all the water?

Water was an important aspect in FDR's life: Assistant Secretary of the Navy, establishment of the Warm Springs Institute, TVA water projects, et cetera. So this theme was incorporated into his Memorial.

Can I touch the statues?

Yes, you can touch the statues. The statues were created to be an interactive aspect of the Memorial, the park asks that you do not climb or sit on them out of respect as well as for reasons of safety.

Did You Know?
At seven and a half acres, the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial is the largest presidential memorial on the National Mall. Interestingly, it stands near the site of numerous temporary World War II dormitories that housed several women supporting wartime military and governmental services.
