Volunteer Opportunities

Help make a difference for your community and the world. At the Rodale Institute, you’re more than just a volunteer; you’re an integral part of a solution to reverse global warming while fighting world hunger and malnutrition. Make your effort count for the generations to come as you support Institute education, research and outreach.
We're currently looking for volunteers in the following areas: 

  • Garden & Greenhouse – Help transplant plants in the winter months and work in the garden in the spring, summer and fall months. Must be physically able to plant, weed and shovel as needed.
  • Research – This position will require an ongoing weekly commitment.  Assist with collecting and processing plant and soil samples. No previous knowledge is necessary, but training is mandatory to be part of the research volunteer team. 
  • Bookstore– Help with general duties in and around the Bookstore including filing, cleaning, sweeping, data entry, stocking shelves, inventory, assisting customers make book selections, ringing up sales and labeling books. 
  • Administration & Development – Perform basic office duties such as filing, answering the telephone, copying and handling donor mailings.
