Mr. WOLFFIA overindulging on a fresh harvest of Boletus edulis.

Chlorophyllum molybdites. This common southern California species has the classic characteristics of a toxic mushroom: flaking, curling scales on the umbrella-like cap, a ring (annulus) on the stalk (just under the cap), and light-colored (whitish-cream to greenish) spores. These are especially dangerous traits for gill mushrooms--with radiating, spore-bearing partitions (gills) on the underside of the cap. Never Eat A Wild Mushroom Unless You Can Positively Identify It!
