To administer and enforce standards for the construction and use of buildings and property.
To promote and protect the public's interest and safety to life and property.

This is accomplished by issuing building, electrical, and mechanical permits, inspection of occupational license applications, and enforcement of policies for the ground transportation industry.

The function of each division is:

Building Inspection - Issues permits for all new construction, renovations, additions, and special events. (Commercial and Residential)

Electrical Inspection - Issues permits for all electrical work; new or repairs and for buildings vacant for more than 6 months.

Mechanical Inspection - Issues permits for all mechanical work; new or repairs and for buildings vacant for more than 6 months.

Ground Transportation Bureau (Taxicab) - Issues Permits for the following "FOR HIRE INDUSTRIES":

  Taxi Cab  Non Emergency Vehicle  Medical Vehicle  Bus  Van  Tour Guide  Limousine  Garden District Tour Pass (Commander's Palace Only)  Special Events Permits
