About ForestPARC
Location
The ecology of UMAC sub-regions varies from intensive production agriculture, to cattle rangelands and grasslands, to forested areas, both managed and wilderness. The latter is predominantly in the western half of UMAC, which is where ForestPARC activities are centered.

Research
ForestPARC research collaborators principally evaluate applications of remote sensing data, (Lidar, thermal infrared, multi- and hyper-spectral imagery) to forest and wildland ecology. Operating as a consortium gives access to numerous experimental field sites, with a rich diversity of characteristics, including species composition, topology, elevation.

Data Dissemination
ForestPARC disseminates remotely sensed data and information to stakeholders of this region, which have included foresters from state and national forests, representatives from other government agencies and non-governmental organizations, private companies, and individuals.

Fire Center Connections
Initial research activities of UMAC included analysis of how remotely sensed imagery could benefit the wildland fire end user community, from researchers to fire-fighters in the field. UMAC maintains collaborative connections with personnel at the National Center For Landscape Fire Analysis located within the College of Forestry and Conservation at the University of Montana, Missoula.
