NCDF's Mission: "Investing in Economic Democracy Through Cooperative Enterprise"

Northcountry Cooperative Development Fund is a member-owned and member-governed financial intermediary. Structured as a cooperative, and using a pool of money invested by the coooperative community and its supporters, NCDF acts as a catalyst for the development and growth of cooperative enterprises in all sectors. Since its incorporation in 1978 as one of the first community development loan funds in the country, NCDF has provided producer, worker, consumer, and housing cooperatives across the upper Midwest with access to capital. The funds used by NCDF to finance these self-help enterprises are supplied by cooperative members and socially conscious individuals and institutional investors.

Institutional investors are a very important source of loan capital for NCDF. Non-member institutions such as foundations, religious entities, community groups, cooperative coalitions, financial institutions and socially responsible organizations support NCDF's work by making loans to NCDF at below market rates. Each investor loan helps NCDF better meet its ever-growing loan demand and leverage other funds. NCDF offers all investors a modest rate of return with the guarantee that they are "Investing in Cooperation." If you are interested in supporting community-based enterprises through a loan to NCDF, please call our office for more information.
