The Center, located in the Lower 9th Ward, offers free counseling, referral and support services to anyone in
need.
Hours are Wednesdays from 8:30am-5:30pm, Thursdays from 1pm-9pm, Fridays from 9am-9pm, and Saturdays from 8:30am-5pm. The Center is located at the corner of North Claiborne and Alvar, across the street from the New Salem Baptist Church and located in the Community Resource Center building.,1600 Alvar Street. BlueStone Ministries points individuals and families to specific resources available for recovery, and helps answer questions regarding options and services that meet individuals' needs. BlueStone Ministries also offers pastoral and crisis counseling to evaluate emotional and spiritual well-being. Services provided by BlueStone Ministries are available at the Community Center of St Bernard, 1107 LeBeau St. in Arabi, on Thursdays from 10AM – 2 PM. Responsibility House provides treatment, support, and counseling to dedicated families and individuals who struggle with substance abuse, homelessness, mental illness, and/or HIV/AIDS.
Programs include a Social Detoxification Program (a short-term starting point for long-term treatment and recovery), a Residential Treatment Program (a 12-step program for men only), and a Supportive Housing Program (providing safe and decent housing with supportive services to families and individuals who are chronically homeless and also suffer from substance abuse, mental illness, HIV/AIDS, and/or other disabilities). The Orleans Parish coroner's office has a psychiatrist to process requests for orders of protective custody.

Project Last, a program offered by the Children's Bureau, offers specialized Grief and Trauma Group and Individual Counseling to school aged children affected by trauma, loss, or disaster.
Project Last has been shown to be very effective in reducing symptoms in children who are in crisis due to trauma and community violence. The program is available to Orleans and Jefferson Parish children ages infant to 17 and their families who are survivors of traumatic events, witnesses to acts of extreme violence, or victims of violence.
