Admissions Instructions
 Applications for admission will not be acted upon until all admission materials and procedures are completed. All admission materials should be submitted to the Admissions Office, Marshalltown Community College, Room 70, 3700 S. Center St., Marshalltown, IA 50158, (641) 752-7106, ext. 5710.
Complete the "Application for Admission" form and submit it to the Admissions Office at the address listed above or online. This form is available from the Admissions Office, as well as from the guidance offices of most high schools in the State of Iowa.
Admissions Policies
Please be aware of the below application requirements. The information on the application form is pertinent to college records.
- Cooperation in supplying this information speeds admission. Use full legal name (include maiden name if applicable).
- Students applying for full-time admission are required to submit high school or GED transcripts. Students applying for financial aid must have a high school or GED transcript on file in the Admissions Office.
- Students currently enrolled in high school should have a 6th or 7th semester transcript sent and arrange to have a final transcript sent following graduation.
- A transcript from each college previously attended (if any) must be provided.
- ASSET/COMPASS/ACT ASSET/COMPASS scores are used for placement in classes; they are NOT admissions tests. ACT scores are not required for admission but may be submitted. In many instances, high schools make a record of ACT scores and the scores are part of the high school transcript (applicants should check with the high schools to see if this is the case). If the scores are not available from the high school, they may be obtained by addressing a request to the ACT Records Department, PO Box 451, Iowa City, IA 52240, and paying a fee to ACT.
Step by Step Checklist in the Admissions Process
- Schedule a campus visit: call Admissions (641) 752-7106 ext. 5710.
- *Complete and return Application for Admissions form.
- *Request official high school and college transcripts be sent to: MCC Admissions, 3700 S. Center Street, Marshalltown, IA 50158 (Submit a partial transcript for review, and the official transcript when available.)
- *Submit ACT scores or take the COMPASS assessment before orientation: call MCC Career Planning and Testing, (641) 752-7106 ext. 5781.
- Submit Student Housing Application Form (pdf) and deposit: priority by space availability.
- Submit MCC Scholarship Application Form (pdf): priority deadline is March 1. (You must have a processed FAFSA on file in the Financial Aid office to be considered.)
- Attend new student registration to register for classes. (You will receive an invitation.)
*These steps must be completed for acceptance into MCC.
