Studies on Tissues from Patients with Fibrous Dysplasia of Bone / McCune Albright Syndrome & Other Disorders of Calcified Tissues

Rationale
The causes of calcinosis (dystrophic calcification) in patients with juvenile-onset Dermatomyositis are unknown. These diseases cause a great deal of disability to the persons affected and cost to our society. By studying calcinosis lesions that have been surgically removed, we hope to learn more about their composition and why they get deposited. The hope is that such studies will allow for better treatments or even the prevention of these diseases.

Purpose
To better understand the composition and pathology of samples of calcinosis that have been surgically removed from patients with juvenile Dermatomyositis. All subjects and their referring physicians will be asked to complete questionnaires about their medical history.

Overview of the Study

• The goal of the study is to understand the composition of calcinosis lesions that have been surgically removed.
• Subjects may enroll at their local doctors' offices.
• A letter from a referring physician is required.
• Questionnaires and surgically-removed calcinosis samples will be collected at enrollment

Eligibility

• Children or adult patients with probable or definite juvenile Dermatomyositis.
• Calcinosis that will be surgically removed.
