Time to Step It Up!

Earn college credits while still in high school with

IVCCD's Dual Credit program!



Definition: High school students take courses that allow them to earn high school; and college credit at the same time. Some students take the classes at their high school, others take them at the college or online.

Fact: In 2007-08, 1,152 students in area high schools enrolled in dual credit classes. Total credit hours was 7,463.5. These credits would have cost students (and parents!) $835,912!

Advantages:

  • FREE - the high school pays the tuition, fees and textbook costs!
  • Get ahead with college credits!
  • Be challenged with college level coursework!
  • Ease the transition to college!
  • Learn more about a potential career area!

3 ways to earn dual credit:

One-Year AA Degree - Some dual credit high school students are able to complete an AA degree in just one year after high school!
