JOB CREATION
Employment growth up for 13 consecutive months;
unemployment significantly lower than the averages of the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Commerce Secretary Donald L. Evans today released the following statement on September’s employment report:

“For the 13th straight month, we've had job gains despite being in a wartime economy. Hurricanes and high energy prices haven't dampened our resilient recovery because America created over 1.9 million jobs since last August.”
