STATEMENT BY COMMERCE SECRETARY DON EVANS
ON PRESIDENT BUSH’S ECONOMIC GROWTH PACKAGE

 

“President Bush’s plan for economic growth focuses on three priorities: Jobs, jobs and jobs. This package gives Americans certainty that they will not just have a paycheck today, but a job for tomorrow. The President’s message is simple and clear, one American without a job is one too many.

“The President’s plan will provide 46 million families and 23 million small businesses with income security. Passage of the plan will also make a big difference to the bottom line of small businesses and the wallets of American families.

“It’s my hope that Congress will consider the support for the President’s plan that I have received from small business owners and workers around the country. Passage of the plan will put more money in the pockets of consumers who have kept America’s economy moving.”
