FOR
IMMEDIATE RELEASE Tuesday,
What is at stake with TPA is the effectiveness of the United States' leadership in the world marketplace. The eyes of the world are watching as the debate over TPA unfolds. Our trading partners, nations we hope to forge partnerships with, and financial markets at home and around the world are watching to see if the U.S. will position itself through TPA as a fully committed leader in international commerce."
"Once the
signal is sent, through passage of TPA, that Congress and the Administration
are working together on liberalizing trade, our trading partners and potential
trading partners will have the confidence they need to expand trade with
us and meet us on a level playing field, the financial markets will have
the certainty they need to free up funds, our economy will open to the
potential that comes from increased trade and commerce, and the American
people will benefit from more, better paying jobs, economic growth and
a higher standard of living."
