Brynjar Brynjarsson

Head Coach: Brynjar Brynjarsson

Coach Brynjar Brynjarsson is in his fourth season at MCC. In the past three seasons, he has compiled a 50-39 record. Six players have gone onto play NCAA Division I, and three players have gone on to Division II or NAIA.

Seven years ago, Coach Brynjarsson came to MCC as an assistant under Coach Denny Aye. Now, as head coach, he brings five years of NCAA Division I experience, including back- to-back Big 12 titles at Iowa State University, where his assistant coaching career began under Coach Larry Eustachy prior to coming to MCC, and at the University of Idaho.

Coach Brynjarsson is a native of Iceland who came to the United States in 1991, graduating from Iowa City West High School. He attended Iowa Lakes Community College, where he was a two-year starter on their basketball team. He then transferred to Luther College where he played basketball and earned a degree in business management, before joining the Iowa State University staff. He has one son, Nicholas.

Cosea Copeland

Assistant Coach: Cosea Copeland

Coach Copeland begins his second year as an assistant coach. He comes to MCC from Dallas, TX and has spent the last two years coaching the Stay In The Game AAU Basketball program. He is originally from Milwaukee, WI and played his college basketball at Central State University in Ohio. He specializes in recruiting and player development.
Ryan Flack

Assistant Coach: Ryan Flack

Coach Ryan Flack is in his first year as an assistant coach. He played last season for MCC and is now a student at Buena Vista University. Originally from Nevada, IA, he lettered in both football and basketball in high school.

John McIntyre

Assistant Coach: John McIntyre

Coach John McIntyre is in his first year as an assistant coach. He began his playing career at the University of Detroit but transferred to the University of Missouri, where he was a three-year letterwinner for legendary coach Norm Stewart.

During his time at Missouri, the Tigers advanced to the NCAA tournament all three years, and in McIntyre’s senior year, the team went on to become Big Eight champions. Coach McIntyre still holds the assist record in a game and he also help set numerous of team records.

After graduation, Coach McIntyre attended the Detroit Pistons’ Veterans Camp as a free agent. He later played in the CBA, for which he was a fourth-round draft pick for the Columbus Horizon. He played for World Basketball League USA teams and with the Milwaukee Bucks and Golden State Warriors NBA Summer League.
He also played for the Israeli Basketball Association League for nine years.

Coach McIntyre was the head coach at Neosho Community College and an assistant coach at South Suburban College before coming to MCC.  He has one son, Randy.
