Over the years, the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service (SITES) has been fortunate to receive grants from numerous philanthropic foundations:
Support from these and other foundations has allowed us to share the Smithsonian's collections, research, and resources with millions of Americans nationwide at a reasonable cost to host venues. Exhibitions that highlight art and artifacts from the Smithsonian are in constant demand, and SITES provides an invaluable service to cultural institutions by offering a broad array of exhibitions.
Generous support from private foundations also has made it possible for SITES to expand its educational offerings. When institutions host a SITES exhibition, they receive a complete educational package to augment their presentation, enabling the organization to present high quality, engaging programs in their communities.
Public programs developed for previous Smithsonian traveling exhibitions include educator training sessions, workshops for children, seminars, lectures, film series, and music programs.
