Smithsonian Community Grants

Visitors to the "In Search of Giant Squid" exhibition at Yale University's Peabody Museum make their very own giant squid puppets.
SITES is proud to announce its new Smithsonian Community Grant program, supported by MetLife Foundation. This program seeks to deepen connections between SITES’ host venues and their communities by encouraging exhibitors to engage their local audiences in new and exciting ways while creating broader access to our exhibitions.

A mariachi band performs at an event for "Our Journeys, Our Stories: Portraits of Latino Achievement" at the Mexican Fine Arts Center Museum, Chicago.
Under this new program, eligible SITES exhibitors may apply for up to $5,000 for expenses related to public, educational programming produced in conjunction with a SITES exhibit. Exhibitors may choose to enhance current program offerings or to create a new program especially suited to the topic of the exhibition.

Potential programs include, but are not limited to, lecture/film series, family days, student transportation, school tours/workshops, or educational workshops/classes.
