MCC Athletics

Welcome from MCC Athletics

Welcome to Marshalltown Community College, home of the Tigers. The MCC Athletic Department fields nine varsity sports, including men and women’s soccer, women’s volleyball, men and women’s basketball, men and women’s golf, women’s softball and men’s baseball. We also proudly field a Cheer Squad, which has grown in talent and size over the past few years, and enjoy the entertainment of our talented Pep Band that adds excitement at our home basketball games.

MCC student-athletes pursue academic degrees in all areas of the college, including nursing, business, science, education, art, broadcasting, accounting, computer science and general studies.
Members of the MCC Tiger Athletic Club contribute to the athletic department and the overall college funding through generous contributions to the athletic scholarship fund. Last fiscal year alone, the TAC contributed more than $100,000 in scholarships and other athletic program needs. These funds help more than 90 student-athletes afford to pursue a college education while developing their athletic abilities.

The MCC athletic programs bring approximately 165 student-athletes to Marshalltown. These students generate $1 million in revenue for the college, as well as cycling hundreds of thousands of dollars throughout the community.

MCC strives to provide the best possible environment for our student-athletes so they can succeed academically, athletically, and socially. History has shown that some of the greatest community leaders developed their leadership skills in their chosen sport as a young adult. Marshalltown Community College Athletic Department is committed to producing some of tomorrow’s leaders today.

Thanks to the community’s approval of a Bond Issue in September 2006, MCC Athletics is looking forward to a new Student Activity Center. Construction of a new 37,000 square foot facility on the MCC campus will accommodate growing athletic and student activity needs. It will include basketball and volleyball courts, locker rooms, seating for at least 1,800, a racquetball court, walking track, exercise and training facilities, a small athletic department with several coaches’ offices, and concession facilities to accommodate events.

It is an exciting time for MCC Athletics!
