Outside Perspectives

College of the Atlantic's innovative approach to education has caught the attention of many outside observers.
Nikki with Turrets in the backgroundAccording to the National Survey of Student Engagement, or NSSE, which asks students very specific questions about their education, COA stands with the top 10 percent of all the colleges and universities that elect to undergo NSSE's rigorous self-examination. This year's survey includes data from 610 four-year colleges and universities, and is considered to be the most comprehensive assessment of effective practices in higher education.

Princeton Review considers COA among the best colleges and one of the best educational values.

Our commitment to our students begins with education, but it doesn't stop there. We teach responsibility and we act responsibly. In August 2007, Grist.org, one of the leading environmental media outlets, called COA the most sustainable college or university in the world.

The following pages include a detailed look into the results from our NSSE survey, and other outside perspectives on College of the Atlantic.
