IMB reports unprecedented rise in maritime hijackings
London, 16 January 2009
The ICC International Maritime Bureau (IMB) Piracy Reporting Centre (PRC) has today released its annual piracy report which shows an unprecedented rise in maritime hijacking in 2008. The 2008 figures surpass all figures recorded by the PRC since it began its worldwide reporting function in 1991.

ICC to hold international contracts training
Paris, 15 January 2009  The success of international business depends on the quality of contracts signed. ICC debuts conference on resolving disputes in space and aeronautics industries
Paris, 7 January 2009  As international and domestic air travel and the use of outer space rapidly grow and diversify, the commercial issues are becoming increasingly complex, creating opportunities for costly and lengthy disputes. To address a field undergoing tremendous change amid a proliferation of space activities, ICC will hold a seminar on resolving disputes in the space and aeronautics sectors.

Congress to highlight rising counterfeiting in Latin America
Paris, 23 December 2008  The Fifth Global Congress on Counterfeiting and Piracy 2-4 June in Cancun, Mexico, will discuss the rising tide of counterfeiting in Mexico, Central and South America.

Trade and investment as environment protectors
Paris, 19 December 2008  Writing in the Polish Warsaw Business Journal, on the occasion of the UNFCCC in Poznan, ICC Secretary General Guy Sebban urged negotiators to bear in mind the inextricable link between climate change and trade and investment. Mr Sebban also highlighted the need for strong protection of intellectual property rights to ensure private sector investment in new technologies.

ICC experts discuss the financial crisis and its implications
Paris, 19 December 2008  The ICC Corporate Economists Advisory Group and Commission on Financial Services and Insurance held a joint meeting on 25 November to discuss the current financial crisis and its implications. The meeting brought together business experts who provided accounting, credit agency, industry and regulatory perspectives on how to restore confidence in global financial markets.
