Resources Inventors-Technology Vendors
Many Oregonians come to the Oregon Department of Energy looking for support in developing new and innovative energy technologies or practices. The Oregon Department of Energy encourages Oregonians to pursue these efforts to make Oregon a seedbed for clean energy technologies. However, we are limited legally and financially in what kind of support we can offer.

What We Can Do
The Oregon Department of Energy does provide tax credits and loans for new technologies in the context of site-specific applications. For commercial demonstrations of technologies that have been proven in research, we will review the technology if it is submitted in conjunction with an application for a Business Energy Tax Credit or the Energy Loan Program. You must have a buyer willing to submit the Business Energy Tax Credit or Energy Loan Program applications for use of the product at a specific site. We do not review or pre-certify the technology if you do not have a buyer committed to using it at a specific site.

A Business Energy Tax Credit or Energy Loan Program application must be accompanied by a technical analysis in accordance with accepted engineering principles by an independent third-party. We will also conduct a thorough review. We encourage inventors, manufacturers and vendors to read the Energy Saving Product Review worksheet that we developed for this purpose. We also have developed aflowchart of the process to assist you.

What We Don´t Do
The Oregon Department of Energy does not directly endorse new technologies or specific products. The Oregon Department of Energy does not provide grants or assistance for research and/or development, third party evaluation, or venture capital. And, we do not provide blanket pre-certification of products or technologies for our Business Energy Tax Credit or Energy Loan programs.
