Francis Marion and Sumter National Forests

About Us

Although two separate national forests, the Francis Marion and Sumter have always been managed by one Supervisor's Office, located in Columbia, the capital city. The Forest Supervisor and his primary staff work from this office. This staff, along with the District Rangers, comprise the Forest Leadership Team.

Some areas, such as engineering, planning, and public affairs are handled at this office. Other areas, recreation, or natural resources, for example, assist the four districts located across the state.

The South Carolina Interagency Coordination Center (SCICC) is also located in this office. The SCICC serves as the coordination center in South Carolina to dispatch people and equipment for wildfire suppression and other incidents for the following agencies: USDA Forest Service, USDI Park Service and Fish and Wildlife Service, the SC Forestry Commission, and Fort Jackson. 

Directions to the Supervisor's Office:

From I -26 West

Take the Piney Grove Road exit (Exit 104) At light turn right. Go to stop light at Piney Grove Road and Broad River Road. Turn left. The office is the on the left. (4931 Broad River Road.)

From I-26 East

Take the Piney Grove Road exit (Exit 104). At the light, turn left. Go to the stop light at Piney Grove and Broad River Road. Turn left onto Broad River Road. The office is on the left.

From I-20 East

Take the Broad River Road exit (Exit 65). Turn left at light. Go approximately 4 miles. Office is on the left at 4931 Broad River Road.

From I-20 West

Take the Broad River Road.exit (Exit 65) Go right approximately 4 miles. Office is on the left at 4931 Broad River Road.

From Downtown Columbia: Take 126 West to I-26 West. Continue to Piney Grove Road (Exit 104) At light turn right. Go to stop light at Piney Grove Road and Broad River Road. Turn left. The 4th Bldg on left is office. 4931 Broad River Road.
