Housing & Food Service

Picture of MCC student housingLocated right on campus, the Student Apartments allow you to walk to classes and stay involved in campus life. Located in two building units, the buildings each have 24 apartments. A third unit will also be open this fall. See the construction progress.

Each building has a live-in manager, providing full-time, on-site supervision, plus evening access to management. The college sponsors organized social events throughout the year

The residents

Marshalltown Community College Student Housing studentsSeveral states and countries are represented by our apartment residents, and approximately 40 percent of them are women. Seventy percent are student-athletes, participating in virtually every sport offered at MCC: baseball, men’s and women’s basketball, golf, soccer, softball, and volleyball.



The apartments

Each unit contains two bedrooms and two baths with closets for your clothing and valuables. Bedroom furnishings include a single bed, dresser and computer desk/chair for each occupant. One computer is furnished (upon request) for each apartment unit. In the spacious living area you can relax and unwind with your friends. Living room furnishings include a sofa, chair, coffee table, and two end tables.Marshalltown Community College Student Housing students

The kitchen area of each apartment includes a refrigerator, stove, small kitchen table with two chairs, and plenty of cupboard space. There is an outlet for a microwave, but microwaves are not provided in all buildings; check with the housing staff for details.

Occupancy

The units may contain up to six students in each apartment, up to three in each bedroom. An attempt is made to keep occupancy at four per apartment. In the event of greater demand for apartments than availability, there will be a charge reduction prorated while three students occupy a bedroom. If you don’t have roommates we’ll arrange them for you.

Food Service

MCC Tiger ShackTiger Shack is MCC's on-campus food service provider. Coming in the fall of 2008 are Meal Memberships! Click here for more information Students can also purchase $20 Punch-a-Lunch tickets at a 10% discount and use them as desired for breakfast, lunch or supper throughout the week. Tiger Shack is open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Fridays while MCC classes are in session; credit and debit cards are accepted.

Policies & Fees

No smoking is allowed in the buildings, and alcohol, drugs, and parties are not tolerated. Violations will be handled according to the student handbook and housing rules. A complete list of MCC Housing rules and regulations is provided to residents upon acceptance of their housing application.

Campus Accessibility

The MCC campus, located just south of the Highway 30 and 14 interchange, offers convenient access to Marshalltown. The campus is served by city bus lines that offer hourly pickup and delivery to several Marshalltown destinations. The Marshall Town Center, YMCA/YWCA, and various shopping and dining facilities are within easy access to campus.
