Venomous Creatures

The Arizona desert is home to plants and animals that are unique to the region. Many are awesome in the first sense of the word--they inspire our awe for their ability to survive and thrive in a harsh, arid environment.

But some of the same creatures also create fear because they can cause harm to humans through the venom, or poisonous secretions, in their bodies. This section provides information about some of the Arizona animals whose sting or bite may cause pain or injury to people. Each section tells you more about the animal and what to do if you have an unpleasant encounter with one of them.
