Branches and Activities in DVRDViral and Rickettsial Zoonoses Branch(1) Provides epidemic aid, consultation, surveillance, and epidemiologic and ecologic investigations of viral and rickettsial zoonoses; (2) provides reference/diagnostic services; (3) develops, evaluates, and improves methods and reagents for diagnosing viral and rickettsial zoonoses and produces laboratory reagents; (4) conducts studies on the pathogenesis and pathology of viral and rickettsial infections; (5) evaluates human and animal vaccines and other prophylactic agents for zoonotic diseases and prepares recommendations for their use; and (6) serves as the WHO Collaborating Center for Reference and Research on Rabies and the WHO Collaborating Center for Rickettsial Reference and Research. The Viral and Rickettsial Zoonoses Branch is composed of three sections: Epidemiology, Rabies, and Rickettsial. VRZB Links:
