Secretary Gutierrez Discusses Importance of U.S.-Russia Commercial Ties

Moscow (April 4)—Secretary Carlos M. Gutierrez in an address to the American Chamber of Commerce in Russia, highlighted the growing importance of the Russian market for U.S. businesses, noting that U.S. exports to Russia grew 20 percent to $4.7 billion last year. He also encouraged Russia to move forward with joining the World Trade Organization and press for increased openness, transparency and competition to strengthen and grow its economy. (Speech)
