STATEMENT BY
COMMERCE SECRETARY DONALD L. EVANS ON PRESIDENT’S INTENT TO
NOMINATE BENJAMIN H. WU AS ASSISTANT SECRETARY FOR TECHNOLOGY POLICY
“I
am delighted that President Bush has expressed his intent to nominate
Ben Wu as Assistant Secretary for Technology Policy in the Technology
Administration (TA). Ben has done an outstanding job as Deputy Under
Secretary of TA and has demonstrated a commitment to strengthen
U.S. technology through innovation and entrepreneurship. Ben has
worked on Technology Administration issues since TA's inception
in 1989 and with his 13 years of Congressional experience in technology
and competitiveness policy, he is the ideal candidate to carry forward
the Administration’s commitment to economic growth by maintaining
our nation’s technological preeminence.”
