U.S. Commerce Deputy Secretary Sam Bodman Witnesses Signing of a Purchase
Agreement Between Boeing and Pakistan

Deputy Secretary Sam Bodman today witnessed the signing of a $1.5
billion Purchase Agreement between The Boeing Company and Pakistan
International Airlines officials. The agreement, signed at the Department
of Commerce, was for the purchase of eight Boeing 777 airplanes that
will be delivered between 2004 and 2008.
Trade
between the United States and Pakistan is important to the creation
of jobs and the health of our economies. said Bodman. This
agreement is a significant boost in the growing relationship between
our two countries.

Deputy Secretary Bodman were Pakistans Ambassador to the United
States Ashraf Jehangir Qazi, Pakistan Secretary of Defense and Chairman
of Pakistan International Airlines Corporation Hamid Nawaz Khan, U.S.
Senator Sam Brownback, and Boeing Senior Vice Presidents Doug Groseclose
and Rudy deLeon.
