Rotorcraft Directorate
The Rotorcraft Directorate is responsible for:
- FAA regulations and policy related to engineering certification of rotorcraft and powered-lift aircraft
- FAA certification of rotorcraft worldwide, and both fixed and rotary wing aircraft within the FAA Southwest Region
- Approving the design and production for all fixed and rotary wing aircraft manufactured or modified within the FAA Southwest Region.
In addition to certifying all aircraft, we have responsibility for writing rules and policy for rotorcraft and working with all the Aircraft Certification Offices to achieve standardized application of the rules for rotorcraft. We also work with our counterparts in other countries to issue domestic approvals for foreign manufactured rotorcraft.
