Water Quality & Pesticides

The Oklahoma State Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry (ODAFF) has been designated as the lead agency in pesticide control according to the Oklahoma Environmental Quality Act of 1992. ODAFF is also the State/EPA liaison in the development and implementation of the State Management Plan. A major statute responsibility of the agency is to prevent the pollution of the surface and ground waters of Oklahoma with pesticide products.

Under the State Management Plan, ODAFF will develop and implement point and non-point source prevention measures, participate in relaying use information, carry out monitoring, develop and implement response to detection, keep records of action taken and provide progress reports to EPA.

ODAFF will develop and maintain a statewide agriculture chemical database, maintain a State pesticide concern list and continue development of a Geographical Information System (GIS) to assist in the implementation of the State Management Plan
