We're delighted that you are interested in being a part of this wonderful program in 2009.   The following will give you a better idea about what to expect:

The Master Composter/ Soil Builder training will teach you to assess your personal carbon footprint

As a Master Composter/ Soil Builder, you will learn to:

·Build healthy soil with compost and mulch, reduce pesticide use, conserve water and protect water quality

·Grow beautiful, natural gardens

·Understand your connection to climate change and develop a climate change action plan that starts in your own backyard.               

The Master Composter/ Soil Builder training is an in-depth, 3-week program beginning in mid-March of 2009.  Applications are available now!

The deadline to submit an application is February 25th, 2009, applicants will know their acceptance status by early March at the latest. Anyone is welcome to apply to the Master Composter/Soil Builder training, but in order to be accepted into the program you must be a resident of the City of Seattle.

Master Composter/Soil Builder training is valued at $500.00 per volunteer and includes training,  educational materials and personal composting bins.  We require a deposit of $150 upon acceptance to the program, which will be refunded when 40 hours of volunteer outreach for the program. Outreach hours must be completed within 12 months of training completion to be eligible for refund.

As a MC/SB graduate, you will become part of a select group of Seattle residents making the big picture personal and sharing what you learn with friends, neighbors and the community at large.
