Commercial License
A commercial license is required when a company or organization wishes
to obtain license rights to intellectual property developed at the
Laboratory. A commercial license
agreement defines the scope of rights granted to the licensee and the
fair market value compensation to the University in consideration for
granting such rights.
Types of Commercial Licenses
- Exclusive: The Laboratory grants a licensee the
right to commercialize the intellectual property, typically for a
specific field of use.
- Nonexclusive: The Laboratory grants multiple licensees
the right to use the intellectual property.
- Option: The Laboratory agrees not to license the intellectual property
to any other licensee for a specified period of time.
Performance Milestones: These represent specific
target dates and deliverables within the Diligence section of the license
agreement to ensure the licensee is actively
pursuing commercialization of the technology.

Design of Chimeric
Anti-Microbial Proteins: LANL has developed a method for creating a
novel class of highly compatible proteins that can rapidly eliminate antibiotic
resistant
bacteria from infected sites in plants and humans.
LANL is looking for a partner to help develop and eventually
to help commercialize the technology.
