Lab begins search for principal AD for science, technology and engineering

August 31, 2006

A committee is conducting an international search for candidates to fill the position of principal associate director for science, technology and engineering (PADSTE). The committee was established by Laboratory Director Michael Anastasio.

The job announcement can be found here.

The 15-person committee, chaired by Alan Bishop, associate director for theory, simulation and computation (ADTSC), and Charlie McMillan, associate director for weapons physics (ADWP), welcomes input, including names of potential candidates, from Lab employees. “Please feel encouraged to e-mail any or all of the committee members with suggestions,” said McMillan.

The committee requests input by the end of September. The group will submit a select list of finalists to Anastasio, who will interview the individuals and make a selection. Committee members and their electronic mail addresses are listed below.

During the contract transition period, Anastasio created the position of principal associate director for science, technology and engineering and named Terry Wallace to serve in that role on an acting basis. “This is one of the most important positions at the Laboratory,” said Anastasio. “My goal is to find a candidate with impeccable scientific credentials as well as a strong record of leadership. This position requires someone who can develop strategic direction for the variety and breadth of the science performed at this Laboratory and integrate it into the successful execution of our missions and programs.”
