The Department of Energy has awarded a five-year, $6.3 billion extension to its current management and operating contractor, UT-Battelle, LLC, for the continued operation of the Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Oak Ridge, Tenn.
“UT-Battelle has made significant contributions to the Oak Ridge community and to the Department,” Energy Secretary Samuel Bodman said Thursday. “ORNL’s world-class facilities and scientific talent are indispensable to the energy, economic and national security of the nation.”
The contract extension, signed earlier this fall, will run through March 31, 2010.
