Diversity Cinema screening set for Thursday

By Steve Sandoval

May 24, 2005

The Office of Equal Opportunity and Diversity (HR-OEOD) is sponsoring a Diversity Cinema screening Thursday in the Physics Building Auditorium at Technical Area 3 as part of the Laboratory's observance of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month.

"Ancestors in the Americas: Coolies, Sailors, Settlers," will be screened at 11:30 a.m. The film documents the untold story of how Asians (Filipino, Chinese, Asian Indian) first arrived in the Americas. This film is part of the Asian American History Series. Free popcorn and sodas are available at the screening.

Diversity Cinema provides an occasional lunchtime opportunity to learn about heroes and historical figures from all cultures and backgrounds, as well as other diversity-related topics. This diversity education and awareness effort supports the Laboratory's Strategic Goal H, Agile Work force.
