Lab employee killed in car accident

Services were held Wednesday in San Ildefonso Pueblo for Laboratory employee Edwin Pena who was killed in a car accident earlier this week on Interstate 40.

Pena, 54, worked in Network Engineering (CCN-5) and joined the Laboratory in January 1972. Pena was active in the Lab's American Indian diversity initiatives. Pena served on the Lab's American Indian Council, the predecessor to the American Indian Diversity Working Group.

Pena earned an associate of science degree in engineering from University of New Mexico, Los Alamos.

He is survived by sons Lawrence, Donald and Marty and three grandchildren, and his parents Bob and Reycita, both Lab retirees.
