Comment period for Laboratory draft request for proposals ends Friday

By Public Affairs Office

January 20, 2005

Friday is the deadline for submitting comments to the Department of Energy regarding the draft request for proposals for operating the Laboratory.

The draft request for proposals seeks interested parties with the capability "to manage world-class science and achieve excellent operations and management performance." The draft request for proposals can be found at http://www.doeal.gov/lanlcontractrecompete/DraftRFP.htm online.

Comments on the draft request for proposals should be forwarded to the National Nuclear Security Administration's Source Evaluation Board contracting officer at LANLRecompeteHelp@doeal.gov by electronic mail.

The Laboratory has been operated by the University of California since its Manhattan Era inception in 1943.

On Nov. 29, 2004, Laboratory Director G. Peter Nanos reminded the work force about employee conduct related to the upcoming contract competition. Nanos said that employees should be aware of certain rules and policies that apply to situations that may arise during the competition. A copy of the memo can be found at http://www.lanl.gov/orgs/pa/newsbulletin/2004/11/29/text05.shtml online.
