Children learn about snakes

July 1, 2008

Outreach stresses education, awareness

Tom Wyant of Telecommunications shows a prairie rattlesnake to children during a snake safety and awareness talk last week at Northern New Mexico College in Española. The children are participating in the summer Northern Youth Sports Program at the college.

Bottom photo: A little girl is brave enough to let Tom Wyant place a bullsnake on her shoulders as others kids look on in amazement.

Wyant has given snake education and awareness presentations for more than 20 years.

Inset photo: the western diamondback rattlesnake on the floor behind a safety glass.
